Voila! Your treasure should be sparkling like new!
You would be surprised how many industry experts vouch for using this inexpensive and effective method of sprucing up jewellery pieces.
Proper cleaning and maintenance of delicate jewellery such as pearl and opal pieces is essential to preserve their natural beauty and lustre.
Pearls, being organic gems, are sensitive to acids, chemicals, and abrasives. To clean them, use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe away any dirt or residue. Avoid using harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners, as they can damage the delicate surface of the pearls. Additionally, pearls should be stored separately from other jewellery pieces to prevent scratching.
Opals, on the other hand, are relatively soft and prone to cracking if exposed to sudden temperature changes or impact. To clean opal jewellery, use warm water and a soft brush to gently remove any dirt or debris. Avoid exposing opals to harsh chemicals or prolonged sunlight, as these can cause discoloration or damage.
Store opal jewellery in a soft pouch or cloth-lined box to protect them from scratches and impacts. Regular maintenance and gentle care will ensure that your pearls and opals retain their stunning appearance for years to come.
Most of all however, enjoy wearing your jewellery! Did you know that pearls actually benefit from being worn?
When pearls are worn, they come into contact with the natural oils from the skin, which can help maintain their lustre and prevent them from drying out. The slight friction from wearing pearls can also help to polish their surface, enhancing their natural sheen over time. Additionally, pearls are organic gems, and wearing them allows them to absorb moisture from the air, which can prevent them from becoming brittle.
